Unrealistic Representations of Love in films

As I was sat watching the ending to Never Been Kissed, a rom-com starring Drew Barrymore, it made me wonder about the unrealistic representations of love in films.
Since childhood, we have been shown love in films such as Cinderella and Snow White. This is then something that has been seen more as we have grown up in films such as Mean Girls, Grease and Maid In Manhattan. But it doesn't just stop there, we are also shown representations of love in the programmes we watch on TV.
Elite Daily then looks at what we all told in Hollywood films:
1) He'll Drop Everything To Meet You Across The Country – “The Parent Trap”
2) He'll Write You Love Letters – “The Notebook”
3) Love At First Sight – “Titanic”
4) Dancing When There's No Music – “My Best Friend’s Wedding”
5) He'll Prevent Us From Leaving – “Cruel Intentions”
6) Making Out In The Rain – “Pride And Prejudice”
7) He'll Perform A Grand Gesture To Profess His Love – “10 Things I Hate About You”
8) Truly, Madly, Deeply, Love – “Atonement”
9) The One That Got Away Will Come Back – “Wedding Crashers”
10) He'll Fall For The Side Kick – “Bend It Like Beckham”
11) He'll See Past Our Past – “Pretty Woman”
We can't exactly say that one of these might come true, however it seems that not many people have hope in the movies ideas behind love, it seems that people just like to escape and believe that there is a possibility the world isn't just going to screw your over. There's nothing wrong with that right ? I'd say no.
Even if we are shown unrealistic representations, this isn't just shown in films about love. It can be seen in action films, horrors and even comedy's, but that's what makes a film good to watch. We don't always have to see something that's real, we just have to believe it in that 2-3 hour time slot.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this topic, feel free to leave your comments.
