Welcome back to the 3rd and possibly the final week of 'Double Standards'
(Cue Audience): Awwwww
I know, I know, I'm sad too that Double Standards is coming to an end :(
But lets get on to this weeks double standard which is: who should pay on the first date.
This is a hot topic many of us can't seem to agree on.
On one side it is argued that men should pay and on the other hand it is argued that both parties should pay for themselves. Now here's where the double standard kicks in... now I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer to be paid for because lets face it I'm a broke student so who am I to say no to a free activity, but it has me wondering why is there no argument that the woman should pay for both parties?... It has me thinking, if a man should have to pay, shouldn't us women be in the seat to pay for a bill too, I mean we are in 2017 so why is there such a stigma behind who should pay?
Now don't get me wrong I myself would be expecting on a first date to at least be offered to be paid for as that is the gentlemanly thing to do and I myself am just old fashioned like that. But in no way should I expect that the guy is 100% going to pay for me, hence why I would take my purse with me and bring it out when its time to pay.
If the man insists to pay for the woman this is usually an indication that he is a gentleman but why is it that a man paying means he a gentleman, whereas if it was a woman who insisted on paying she would be seen as emasculating and somewhat of a control freak...
There's even an argument that the person who initiated the date should be the one who pays....I believe that this is a hot topic that will forever be debated, is there really a right or wrong answer on who should pay?
For a further look into other peoples opinions on this topic head over to YouTube and watch the episode if 'BK Chat' where a group of guys and girls debate over who should pay...

Peace, Love and Goodbye for now :)
